Himanta Biswa Sarma has been sworn in on Monday as the 15th Chief Minister of Assam. A 13-member Cabinet also took the oath to serve the people of Assam. Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi administered the oath of secrecy at a ceremony held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Guwahati.

Keshab Mahanta was born on the 6th of July, 1959. He is the son of Late. Kamal Mahanta and is a resident of Teliagaon (Balisatra), Kaliaborin Nagaon district. He is 61 years old. He is married to Chayanika Mahanta and they have two daughters, Dibisa and Lulakshi.

Keshab Mahanta did his HSLC from Kuwori Tol High School, Nagaon, in the year 1976. He then went to Kaliabor College to do his Pre-University (Class XII), in Nagaon under Gauhati University in 1978. He also did his graduation from Kaliabor College before joining Gauhati University for his Master’s in the year 1990.
